Language Tip of the Week 10: Celebrate Communication

Transcript:

Hi, this is Cherie, the Principal Speech Pathologist at Apex Speech and Language, here to bring you our last Language Tip of the Week for this mini-series.

Today's Language Tip is all about celebrating communication.

It's great when interacting with your child to acknowledge all forms of communication, whether this be words, sounds, or gestures. We know that positive reinforcement increases a child's confidence and motivation.

But it's important to remember—it's not about perfection; it's about effort and progress. Our job is to create a safe space, free from fear of mistakes, to help them learn and practice their language skills.

If we respond enthusiastically, we show our children that their communication matters.

And that's your Language Tip of the Week! We'll see you in the New Year for a brand-new mini-series.
