Language Tip of the Week 2: Model

Transcript:

Hi, this is Cherie, the Principal Speech Pathologist at Apex Speech and Language, and this is my friend Grace. She's going to be helping us today with our Language Tip of the Week.

Today's Language Tip of the Week is modelling. When we're interacting with a child, it's great if we can model words and sentence structures the child doesn't have yet.

For example, we might use lots of verbs that end in "-ing." We might say "dancing," "eating," or "sleeping." Or we can model some early sentence structures like "Grace is jumping," "Grace is dancing," "Grace is eating," and "Grace is sleeping."

It doesn't matter if the child doesn't copy what you say, but it's great if they can hear the sentences and structures repeated again and again.

And that's your Language Tip of the Week! We'll see you next week.
