Language Tip of the Week 5: Build Ups and Breakdowns

Transcript:

Hi, this is Cherie, the Principal Speech Pathologist at Apex Speech and Language, here to bring you another Language Tip of the Week.

This week's Language Tip is build-ups and breakdowns.

It's important when playing with your child to listen to what they're saying and to build it up.

For example, if your child says, "Girl, sleeping," you might say, "Yes, the girl is sleeping. Sleeping in bed. The girl is sleeping. The girl is sleeping in bed."

We build up the sentences, then break them down into achievable phrases, and then build them up again.

That's your Language Tip of the Week! We'll see you next week.
